Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data Pine Node Editor (the "Extension") and the pinenodeeditor.com website collect, and how it's used. The short version: your strategy graphs never leave your browser, and we don't run a server that stores or sees them.

1. Data stored locally, not on our servers

We don't operate a backend that receives or stores your strategy graphs. Everything you build lives in your own browser:

  • Working graphs are saved in chrome.storage.local, tied to your specific Chrome installation. Uninstalling the Extension or removing browser data erases them. This data is never transmitted to us.
  • Named saves (the Save/Load feature) are additionally mirrored to chrome.storage.sync, which Google syncs across your own devices using your Chrome account — this is a convenience backup, not a service we operate. Chrome's sync storage quota is small (about 100KB total, 8KB per item), so very large graphs may not sync and will stay local-only.
  • Unsaved draft work is not synced across devices — only an explicit Save guarantees a graph survives a device change.

2. What we do collect

  • Payment and license data: if you purchase a Pro subscription, your payment is handled entirely by Polar.sh, our Merchant of Record. Polar collects your email address and payment details to process the transaction and issue a license key; we receive only what's needed to validate that license (e.g. your license key status), not your card details. See Polar's Privacy Notice for how they handle payment data.
  • Support correspondence: if you email [email protected], we keep that email thread to respond to you and troubleshoot issues. We don't use it for anything else.

3. What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent personal data to third parties.
  • The Extension itself does not run analytics or tracking scripts, and does not read the content of your strategy graphs for any purpose other than compiling the Pine Script you explicitly ask it to generate, locally in your browser.
  • The pinenodeeditor.com website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting and CDN provider (Cloudflare) may set minimal technical cookies necessary to serve the site securely; these are not used to profile or track visitors across other sites.
  • The tutorial page embeds a demo video via YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which avoids setting tracking cookies unless you actually press play. Playing the video is subject to Google's own privacy policy for that interaction.

4. Third parties involved

  • Polar.sh — payment processing, subscription billing, and license key issuance for the Pro plan.
  • Google (Chrome Web Store / chrome.storage.sync / YouTube) — hosts the Extension for installation, provides the optional cross-device sync of named saves, and hosts the embedded tutorial video, each governed by your own Google account settings.
  • Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery for pinenodeeditor.com.

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — processing your email and license data via Polar to sell and activate a Pro subscription.
  • Legitimate interest — responding to support emails you send us, and keeping the Extension and site secure.
  • Consent — anywhere we'd introduce optional things like marketing emails or analytics in the future; we don't do either today, and would ask first if that changes.

We don't process any "special category" data (health, biometric, political opinions, etc.), and the Extension has no reason to ever ask you for any.

6. International data transfers

Some of the processors we rely on (Polar/Stripe for payments, Google for the Chrome Web Store and chrome.storage.sync, Cloudflare for hosting/CDN) may process data outside the EU/EEA as part of operating their global infrastructure. Where that happens, those providers are responsible for ensuring an adequate transfer mechanism is in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) under their own privacy terms.

7. Your rights

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. Because we don't hold your strategy graphs on our servers (see section 1), most of what we could act on is limited to the support-email and license-lookup data described above — for anything held by Polar as payment processor, you can also exercise these rights with them directly.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — for Estonia, that's the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).

8. Data retention and deletion

Local and synced graph data is retained until you delete it yourself, uninstall the Extension, or clear your browser/Google account data — we have no copy to delete on our end. Polar retains transaction and billing records per their own policies, including as required for tax and legal compliance. To ask about data Polar holds on you, contact [email protected] or Polar directly.

9. Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
